Hi everyone, For those getting the message " You have exceeded your premium request allowance", I wanted to clarify how premium requests work with GitHub Copilot. All chat-based features—such as Ask, Edits, and Agent modes—consume premium requests when they use advanced AI models. The number of requests consumed depends on the model and its associated multiplier. Here are a few examples:
Please see the full list of Model multipliers for paid plans for more information. Once your monthly premium request quota is exceeded:

I'm experiencing a similar error, with the exception that the text under the bar reads "Additional paid premium requests disabled." Is there anything I need to be doing other than setting up a budget? All the guides, help etc. just point me towards setting a budget, which I have done. |

ISSUE IS WITH FREE TRIAL! For some reason the free trials don't support additional budgets for copilot premium requests. Need to be on the paid Copilot subscription, not on trial. Can just click 'start paid subscription' on the 3 dots in Settings>Billing & Licensing on your current copilot plan. |

PROBLEM SOLVED!!! I was still in the 30 day free trial period. I simply skipped the rest of the trial period and that fixed it. |

I resolved it by enabling models paid usage and updating budget for existing "All Premium Request SKUs". DO NOT CREATE A NEW BUDGET. |

There seem to be related topic about this issue, but none truly proposed a solution to this problem.
Even with additional premium responses enabled in Copilot, I still get the error
Only after each restart of VS code I can get one additional premium request, which is correctly billed in my github account.
Later I figured that I can just click the "Restart Extensions" button to get another response available from Sonnet 4.
I have:
So I assume its set up correctly, this must be a bug. But is it a bug in copilot extension, in github, in vs code? I don't know.
Anyone knows a solution?
